Englemount-Lawrence

Tree-Lined Tranquility Near Lawrence and Dufferin

About Englemount-Lawrence

Englemount-Lawrence is a residential neighbourhood in the central-north part of Toronto, situated between Lawrence Avenue and Briar Hill Avenue, with Dufferin Street forming its western boundary. The area has a settled, mid-century suburban character, with well-maintained brick bungalows and split-level homes on quiet streets canopied by mature trees. It is the kind of neighbourhood where Saturday mornings are spent at the garden centre, dogs are walked along predictable routes, and the biggest excitement is the annual street sale. Lawrence Avenue serves as the commercial spine, offering a practical mix of supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, and casual dining. The neighbourhood benefits from its proximity to the Allen Expressway for drivers and the Lawrence West subway station for transit users, making it well-connected despite its residential calm. Englemount Park and the adjacent green spaces provide recreational facilities for families, including a playground, baseball diamond, and open fields. The community has a stable, family-oriented demographic, though it has gradually diversified as Toronto has grown. Italian, Filipino, and Caribbean families have joined the neighbourhood mix, enriching the local character while maintaining the area's fundamentally quiet, residential nature. Englemount-Lawrence is not a neighbourhood that makes headlines, and its residents prefer it that way.
