Toronto's western frontier where industry meets open space
West Humber-Clairville occupies the far northwestern corner of Toronto, a sprawling area where residential subdivisions, industrial parks, and surprisingly large tracts of open space coexist along the Highway 427 corridor. The residential portions are concentrated in the Clairville area, with newer suburban homes, townhouses, and a growing number of stacked townhome developments serving families drawn by relative affordability and proximity to the airport employment zone. The Humber River runs through the eastern section, and the Clairville Conservation Area protects a large tract of forest, wetland, and meadow that feels genuinely rural. Finch Avenue West and Highway 27 provide commercial services, and the neighbourhood benefits from easy highway access via the 427 and 407 ETR. Pearson International Airport is minutes away, making this a practical choice for aviation workers. The area is evolving rapidly as development pushes westward, but for now it retains the open-sky feel that most of Toronto has long since built over.
