Rockcliffe-Smythe is a residential neighbourhood in the old City of York, wedged between the rail corridors that once made this part of Toronto an industrial powerhouse. The area runs along Weston Road and Jane Street, with Scarlett Road marking its western boundary near the Humber River. Housing is primarily modest post-war semis and detached homes, with some newer townhouse infill on former industrial sites. The neighbourhood retains a blue-collar authenticity that many longtime residents cherish. Weston Road is the main commercial strip, offering everyday essentials alongside a growing number of restaurants and cafes reflecting the area's Jamaican, Portuguese, and Latin American communities. Smythe Park and Keelesdale Park provide green space and sports facilities, while the nearby Stockyards District shopping area at St. Clair and Keele offers big-box retail. The neighbourhood is poised for change as the Eglinton Crosstown LRT opens stations along its southern boundary, but for now it remains one of Toronto's more affordable and community-driven pockets.
