Lakeside Etobicoke with Small-Town Soul
Long Branch is a lakeside neighbourhood in southwest Etobicoke that feels like a small Ontario town transplanted to the edge of Toronto. Named after a 19th-century resort community that drew summer visitors to its Lake Ontario beaches, the area retains a relaxed, waterfront-oriented character. The Long Branch Loop, where the 501 Queen streetcar reaches its western terminus, has been the neighbourhood's symbolic heart for over a century. The lakefront is Long Branch's defining asset. The Waterfront Trail runs through the neighbourhood, connecting Colonel Samuel Smith Park and its popular skating trail to the broader network of lakeshore paths stretching east toward the Humber. Marie Curtis Park, straddling the Toronto-Mississauga border, offers beaches, creek trails, and picnic areas. The residential streets feature a mix of modest bungalows, wartime housing, and newer infill development. Long Branch GO station provides express service to Union Station, making this one of the most transit-accessible waterfront neighbourhoods in the city. For those who want lake breezes and a tight-knit community without leaving Toronto, Long Branch delivers.
