About Wychwood
Wychwood is a neighbourhood that has built a distinct identity around its creative community and one extraordinary public space: the Wychwood Barns. This former TTC streetcar repair facility has been transformed into a community centre, art studios, theatre space, and year-round farmers' market that serves as the neighbourhood's beating heart. On Saturday mornings, the market draws a crowd from across the city for its organic produce, artisanal breads, and locally roasted coffee. The residential streets surrounding the Barns are lined with Victorian and Edwardian homes, many with generous front porches and mature gardens that give the neighbourhood a warm, established feel. Christie Pits Park, one of the city's most popular outdoor gathering spots, sits at the southern edge, while Hillcrest Park offers neighbourhood-scale green space closer to the centre. The area's commercial needs are met by St. Clair West, where an eclectic mix of cafes, bakeries, and independent shops lines the streetcar route.
