West Rouge

Toronto's easternmost escape into Rouge River wilderness

About West Rouge

West Rouge is Toronto's furthest east, a neighbourhood that borders the Rouge National Urban Park and offers a living experience unlike anything else within city limits. The Rouge River winds through the landscape, flanked by forest, marsh, and meadow that shelter deer, coyotes, and more than 100 species of birds. Residential streets of detached homes and townhouses sit quietly beside this extraordinary natural corridor, giving residents a backyard wilderness that extends for thousands of hectares. The neighbourhood's commercial needs are served along Kingston Road and in nearby plazas, while Rouge Beach Park provides Lake Ontario waterfront access at the mouth of the Rouge River. The area has a distinctly semi-rural feel, with some properties backing onto farm fields that are part of the national park's heritage agricultural program. TTC bus service connects to Scarborough transit, and the Rouge Hill GO station provides commuter rail access to downtown. For those who want to live in Toronto but wake to birdsong and river mist, West Rouge is the answer.
