About Scarborough Village
Scarborough Village is one of the oldest settled areas in Scarborough, its history stretching back to the early 19th century when the area was a small farming community clustered around Kingston Road. Today it is a diverse residential neighbourhood with a mix of older homes, post-war bungalows, and newer townhouse developments. Kingston Road serves as the main commercial artery, lined with restaurants, shops, and services that reflect the area's South Asian, Filipino, and Caribbean communities. What sets Scarborough Village apart is its proximity to the Scarborough Bluffs, the dramatic lakefront cliffs that are among Toronto's most stunning natural features. Bluffer's Park, accessible from the neighbourhood, offers a beach, marina, and trails with panoramic lake views. The Scarborough Village Recreation Centre provides community programming, and the area's slightly elevated position offers glimpses of Lake Ontario through the trees. It is a neighbourhood with genuine history and a waterfront backyard that most Torontonians never think to explore.
