Playter Estates-Danforth is one of those neighbourhoods that makes Torontonians fall in love with the city. Perched just north of the Danforth between Broadview and Pape avenues, it combines the energy of one of Toronto's great commercial streets with the architectural grace of tree-lined residential blocks. The Danforth itself is legendary: Greek restaurants and bakeries anchor a strip that also features indie bookshops, craft breweries, and bustling cafes, all brought to vivid life during the annual Taste of the Danforth festival. Step one block north and the pace slows dramatically. The Playter Estates section is a designated heritage conservation district, its winding crescents and Edwardian homes creating a streetscape that feels almost English in its charm. Withrow Park serves as the neighbourhood common, hosting a popular farmers' market on Saturdays and a natural ice rink in winter. With Broadview and Pape subway stations on either end, the whole of Toronto is within easy reach.
